PROTESTANT POLITICAL ASSN.

ANNUAL CONKE2RENCB. The eighth annual conference of the Protestant Political Association opened in the Dominion Farmers' Institute on Wednesday. The Dominion president, Mr I. J. Bridger, presided, delegates be* ing present from all .parts of the Dominion. Apologies -were received from Gore, Martinboroug-h, Parnell, Mt. Albert, Ashburton, Oamaru and Dunedin. The president's address took the form of a review of the year's work and: mentioned a marked increase in the activities of the association. It was stated that the work of the organisation had increased to such an extent and its ramifications had become so widespread, that it had been found impossible for the Rev. Howard Elliott to cope with the work single-handed. It had therefore been necessary to appoint organisers in certain districts to meet the demands for more active work in those districts. The balance-sheet showed the finances to be in a stronger position than for years, and it was unanimously agreed that the association had had one of the most successful- years in its history. One of the most important discussions in the history of jthe association followed on the Dominion lecturers report. The organisers already at work in Taranaki, Southland, Wellington, and Auckland districts reported that splendid work was being done and arrangements to place live men in every district in the Dominion were completed. The Dominion lecturer (Rev. Howard Elliott) and the organisers (Messrs Lowe, Griffith, Franklyn and Ashman) were congratulated on the success achieved during the year. The public questions committee eat throughout the evening Remits from groups, questions of vital interest to the Dominion and the Emand the election of officers for the ensuing year occupied yesterdays session.
