STRONGER NAVAL BASES
AMERICA WILL SPEND MONET AVEAKNESS AT PEARL HARBOUR. Australian and N.Z Cable Association. (Received Julv 23. 7.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 22. Mr Robinson, Acting-Secretary of the Navy, will soon inspect tbe naval bases, including Pearl Harbour, Honolulu. Tho ioint army and nr.vv manoeuvres in Hawaiian waters demonstrated weaknesses in its defence, and an appropriation for Pearl Harbour will be pressed in the next Congress. Confidential reports on the situation, already made bv Admiral Coontz and General Hines are being studied by the joint Im-.-d of the army and navy. Senator Hale, chairman of the Senate Naval Committee, and other congressmen visited Pearl Harbour recently.
