THROUGH AMERICAN EYES

NEW ZEALAND AND THE STATES NOT SUFFICIENT PUBLICITY “Although the authorities may he satisfied that they are advertising the country sufficiently well, I can assure you that New Zealand does not get as much publicity in the United States as its potentialities warrant,’ ’ stated Mr Alexander Marky, of New York, who is at present touring the Dominion, and who, was in Wellington yesterday. Advertising in America, he continued, had been developed to a point of science, and was carried on in such a large way that, while a scheme like that adopted by New Zealand might bo well enough in some places, it waa dwarfed by the immensity of the advertising of the various States— Florida, California, and others. Switzerland, too, had embarked upon an extensive advertising campaign. “I want to convince you that you have an even greater reason to advertise than Switzerland,” Mr Marky continued, “for when I landed in New Zealand a few days ago I received a deeper and more profound impression of this country than I received during my whole stay in Switzerland 15 years ago. If your country impresses one so instantaneously, then surely you have attractions worthy of-the greatest adveitising campaign that could be launched.” Mr Marky, who is touring the country as an advocate of the Abrams treatment, stated that any funds which lie has ovei and above his expenses or. bis tour, will.be devoted to the car© of the poor in Wellington, and the formation here of a health centre for New Zealand.
