ART UNION TICKETS STOLEN SECRETARY SENT TO GAOL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received July 22, 7.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 22. George Wheeler, secretary of the Help for Consumptircs Art Union, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment to-day for stealing 14,000 tickets, the property of tho committee. The police gave evidence that the accused had admitted he put tho butts of these tickets in the barrel at the drawing, and secured prizes of tho value of several hundred pounds. The police discovered that the butts of large numbers of 21,000 tickets sold to tho public were burned, and 'the owners, therefore, had no chance in the drawing Tlie Attorney-General is considering the practicability of re-drawing the art union.
