LUCKY MOERAKI

PASSED WARSHIPS. AT SEA MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright SYDNEY, July 22. The Moeraki, -n route from New Zealand, had the unique experience of passing through the lines of the American Fleet. The sea was like glass when, early in the morning, the advance guard of the fleet was sighted, and gradually all the ships came into sight. As soon as the fleet was seen, the captain t f the Moeraki ordered all the passengers to be aroused, and the decks were soon 'ined with an admiring throng. Gradually the paths of the fleet and the Moeraki converged, and the captain of the steamer altered his course so as not to break the fleet's formation. The Moeraki passed between the battleships and the flagship Seattle. She was steaming between 12 and 13 knots, and the fleet was doing a little less, and seemed hardly to move. Finally the fleet passed over the horizon, and disappeared one by one. It was a memorable sight, which will never he forgotten by the passengers.
