ECLIPSE OF SUN
SEEN CLEARLY IN CITY The eclipse of the sun was witnessed under excellent conditions in Wellington yesterday morning, when fortunately the sky was not obscured by clouds. Shortly after.. 8 a.m. schoolchildren were anxiously watching through pieces of smoked glass, and quite a number of adults were not too disinterested to adopt the same simple method. It was seen at its best about 8.15, but passed away in about an hour and a half. In the far north of New Zealand the .eclipse would have been almost a total one, but as, seen in Wellington was about a three-quar-ters eclipse.
