LIGHTNING STRIKE
RUBBER WORKS THROWN IDLE HIGHER WAGES*DEMANDED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. 1 SYDNEY, July 21. A lightning strike occurred at the Drummoyne workß of the Perdriau Rubber Company, when 32 enginedrivers and firemen ceased work and the night shift refused to go on. Some weeks , ago representatives of the Engine-drivers and Firemen’s Association waited on the management and requested an average increase of wages by 7s a week. They were asked to put tlie claim in writing, which they did. As no reply was received, the men decided to cease work. About 1100 employees are affected.
