THE WRONG PARR
ALLEGATIONS REFUTED MR CORRIGAN’S CHARGES. fee tress Association. , AUCKLAND, July 21. In reference to the allegations made by Mr J . R. Corrigan, M.F. for Patea, against the House of Representatives as to the holding of land near the new Kanui railway station between Henderson and Swanson, some of; Sir James Parr’s constituents state that the Minister does not hold, nor is he directly or indirectly interested In, land in the vicinity of Ranui station. A new station at Oratia was built about a year ago, and a family named .farr, who have no connection with the Minister, live close to the station, and had resided in the district for fifty years. The member for Patea had evidently confused the Waikumete family of Parr with the member for Eden. Two years ago the Swanson Ratepayers’ Association was instrumental in the purchase, as a scenic reserve, of a block of 25 acres of native bush within a mile of the Ranui station. This reserve has been named Parr Park. The association has written to the Prime Minister, the Hon. J. G. Coates, asking for a thorough investigation into Mr Corrigan’s charges, which it Btates are absolutely inaccurate, and in justicp demand Dominion-wide pub-, licity.
