v SHOPPING PRICES TO-DAY VERY LITTLE CHANGE The most noticeable change in prices to-day is in the fish department, for flat fish, the prices of which have for some days been ruling as high as Is 4d per lb, have been brought down to Is; but other prices remain unchanged. Crayfish are fairly plentiful, and cheap. Oyster prices are firm. SSeat prices remain stable. Topside and prime ribs at 7d, rolled beef without bone 6d, and corned roll at fid, offer inexpensive family joints. Pork sausages lOd, beef sausages 4d, luncheon sausage 6d, are useful to fill in the odd days. Veal and mutton prices are unchanged. Lamb is Scarce and dear. In the vegetable market a few new season's cucumbers are making their appearance, and those who are partial to them will not grudge 9d to la- each for these early arrivals. There is a fair quantity of Island tomatoes at Is, and these will soon be augmented by fresh arrivals. A little new rhubarb is going direct to the shops without going into the market, and is commanding from 8d to Is fid per bundle. Provision prices are unchanged, but a fresh supply of Turkish dessert figs are priced at Is 2d. One firm has a large tin of pineapple cubes at 6id —a cheap line. Tinned salmon ranges from 6a to Is 2d per tin, middle cut lOd. The drapery sales offer housewives an opportunity to save on such domestic articles as tea towels, curtains, brushes, cleaning materials, etc. Just as a stitch in time saves nine, a few boot protectors will often save a shilling or two in boot repairs, especially if the boys are aspiring to be "All Blacks."
