NAI NAI REQUIREMENTS

MEETING OF RESIDENTS PROPOSED RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION. For some time past the residents of Kai Nai have felt the need of more attention to the growing requirements ox the district, and a meeting of ratepayers was recently held to consider means of attaining this end. In particular the need of better access (roads and footpaths) and of drainage, is keenlv felt. It is also considered that the district contributes a large proportion of rates, but receives less attention than might be expected. Nai Nai lies just beyond, and partly within, the north-eastern corner of the borough of Lower Hutt and south of Tait-a. The district, being situated at the foot of the eastern Hutt hills, enjoys a warm and sunny aspect, and its natural beauty must lead to great development in the near future. The object of the recent meeting was to consider the advisability of forming a local Ratepayers’ Association, and a strong provisional committee was appointed to consider wavs and means and to call a further public meeting of ratepayers at the Epuni schoolroom on Wednesday, August 19th, there to place a concrete proposal before propertyowners. It is intended that a ratepayers’ association be formed for the advancement of the district. Already a considerable amount of support is offering. and it is felt that the proewetg of a live association being formed *r* very bright.
