Hawkes (Australia) in a spectacular five-set match, in which physical condition was the vital factor. The score was B—6, 2—6, I—6, 9—7, 6—4. G. Zi. Patterson (Australia) smothered Zenzo Shimizu (Japan), 6 —3, 6—2, 6—o. Patterson will play Harada to-morrow in the final for the Longwood Bowl, which is destined to leave the United States for the first time since its institution in 1891. In the semi-final of the doubles Patterson and Hawkes defeated Peabody Gardner and Henry Guild, qf Boston, 6—4, 6—3, 2—6, 6—2. Patterson and Hawkeß announce that their next appearance will he at the Seabright tournament. New Jersey, beginning on July 2/th.
