SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION

Tho monthly meeting of the Sunday School Union was held on Thursday evening in tho Jx>wer ilutt Methodist Schoolroom, Mr W. E. Howe, vice-presi-dent, was in the chair, and there was u good attendance of delegates. It was announce:! that 514 scholars had sat for the examination, being an increase of 15 over last year. The executive was authorised to make all arrangements for the prize distribution. The teachers' training class, which was being conducted by Mr J. Itoid. 8.A., had 36 '.nembers, and iJ: vr.s hoped that a larger number would ioin within tho next week or two. A letter was received from the teachers of a city tttliool asking that the union move

in the direction of having a censorship established over tho posters displayed advertising moving pictures. It was lesolved that action be taken whenever a particular poster could be produced to justify a protest. Miss Vida Johnson, of Kaipororo who had acted as the union's representative at the World’s Sunday School Convention in Glasgow last year, gave a most interesting account of the convention. Miss Johnson urged that New Zealand schools should combine to send a Maori teacher to the next World’s Convention to be held in Los Angeles in 1928. Miss Johnson was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for her address. Tho chairman moved a vote of thanks to tile, ladies for providin'' ‘-upper, which was responded to hv Mr Isiinerinlendent of the how-e: null Methodist School.
