* V Tn his annual report the president of the New Zealand Racine Conference (Sir George Clifford) referred to the death of the late Prime Minister, Hon. W. F-. Massey; and also that of Hon. Oliver Samuel, Messrs R. C. Gillies, and A. E. Whyte. The valuo of the deceased gentlemen to racing was stressed, a tribute being paid to the qualities of the lata Mr Massey as an Imperial statesman.
