BIRD-LIME USED, For some time past complaints have been received from various sources that cruelty is being practised by school boys who snare birds by means of bird-lime 'in the city reserves. The local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals took the matter in hnnd. and advises that there is a by-law which reads:—“No ->evson shall by any means whatsoever destroy, shoot, snare, injure, or take, or attempt so to do, uny h-'rd, or bird's nests or bird's eggs, in Or from any portion of anv park, reserve nr ground as afnresnid without the consent of the council."
