TIMETABLE ALTERATIONS DETAILS OF CHANGES. Special attention is drawn to the Railway Department’s advertisement in today’s issue in -connection with alterations and additions to the ordinary timetable on the Manawatu line, which will operate on and after Monday next. The department has made a forward move in making further improvements which should meet the wishes of the , users of the train services. Included in the number of adjustments mention is made of the 6 a.ra. Paekaka* riki-Wellington train, which will leave ten minutes later and reach its destination three minutes earlier than at present.' This train will in future be a passenger train only, and by the eliminating of shunting will ensure time being maintained. The 7.10 a.m. PaeknkarjkiWellington train will leave 15 minutes later and will be accelerated to arrive Wellington on prSfcont time. A new daily train leaves Paekakariki 10.40 a.m. and arrives Wellington 12.10 p.m. The 1.20 p.m. Palmerston North-Wellington train will be discontinued south of Paekakariki. The 3.48 p.m. Palmerston North-Wellington train will be accelerated and will leave Palmerston North three minutes earlier and arrive Wellington afa 7.13 p.m. instead of 7.45 p.m. as at present. Passengers from stations not served by express trains will, by utilising this train, be in time to attend city theatres if so desired or connect with the soutfh-bound Lyttelton ferry service.

The 9.15 p.m. WelUngton-Johnsonville train will run through to Pliramerton on Friday nights. This will enable people from an extended area to spend the evening shopping in town. An additional train on the same night leaves < Wellington at 8.48 p.m. for Jobnsonville. The 3.35 p.m. Paekakariki-Wellington train is delayed on Saturdays until 4.10 p.m., and will leave Porirua at 4.48 p.m., TaVa Flat 5.0 p.m., Wellington arrive 5.38 p;m. The alteration will no doubt be appreciated by golfing enthusiasts; also footballers, and visitors to Porirua. ; There are a number of alterations to suburban trains. In some instances the present services are substituted by trains run at more suitable times. The department’s efforts in instituting an improved time-table to meet the convenience of its customers will no doubt ibe received with much approval.
