FRENCH CLUB
FORTNIGHTLY REUNION
The usual fortnightly reunion of the Oercle Francais took place in the Pioneer Club Hall on Thursday night. A long and interesting programme had been arranged by Madame 'Bendall (vice-president), and the fact that most of the audienoe cheerfully allowed their usual homeward tram to depart without them is sufficient proof of their appreciation of the entertainment. Madame Bendall spoke interestingly on “La Grande Mademoiselle—Duchee6e de Montpensier.-’ Miss de Laplene Living, stone gave an address entitled “Quelques Mots sur la Chine: Quelques-unes do mes Expel iencee..” A dainty comedy, “Pendant le Bal,” was presented by Misses Cecile MacGregor and Maisie Vvhyte. Mrs Hayward sang “Romance” (Debussy), and responded to an encore, and Mr Fraser Mackenzie played and was, as usual, warmly applaudea. The Conversation Circle was presided over by Madame Declianet Mclntosh, and Miss E. M. Hind received. It was terminated with the singing of “La Marseillaise.”
