HERE IT IS AGAIN!

STORIES AND PICTURES GALORE It’s becoming a bit of a bore this weekly responsibility of “boosting” the Saturday Supplement, but the manager is adamant. And when our manager is adament, he’s .... well lie’s adamant. Otherwise, he is a quite good sort. However, under pressure, we have to say that if any of you good people miss to-morrow’s “Times” the loss will he yours. We can’t be much fairer than that, can we? But, honestly, this Magazine section of ours is the most exciting to date. Have you heard of Adah Menken? No? Listen, Adah Menken was one of the world’s most beautiful and tragic figures, goodness knows how many years ago. Read about it all to-morrow. ' “Eve’s Vanity Case” aproaches high-water mark; that is, if vanity cases are capable of that sort of thing. The notes are splendid, the illustrations generous, and intriguing. ■ The Book Page will be proud of itself this week. _ It carries a poem written specially by the “Times” by Eileen Duggan. '“The Legend of the Cuckoo” is Miss Duggan at her best, and her best, as the connoisseurs know, is very good. For the benefit principally of our country clients we have added a new feature to “The Countryside.” It deals with the utility poultry industry. The writer, G. H. Ambler, admittedly is ah authority; he has “shown” with extraordinary success at Crystal Palace, London, and throughout New Zealand. Eggraisers who are “Times” subscribers will now have no one to ' blame but themselves if their hens develop ennui in the spring or go on strike in the winter. “The Fairy Ring” is flourishing exceedingly, thank you. We haven’t the slightest idea yet who won the drawing competition. We’ll simply have to buy the paper-24 hours hence. Isn’t waiting a bother, my children? Fight fans will have a cartoon all to themselves this week; a Paterson version (and a droll one) of the Trowern-Hiil battle. Watch for it in the chatty Sports Miscellany. And finally: The most they will take for this meritorious edition is twopence. It’s too absurd for words!
