MOTOR COLLISION

OCCUPANTS INJURED. ONE OAR BADLY SMASHED. CHRISTCHURCH, Maroh 21. Two men were injured in a motor collision at the inter section of Banks Avenue and North Parade this afternoon. Both cars were badly damaged, one being reduced to a mass of tangled wreckage. The men are: R. Harrison, Macauloy street, Addington, single; severe injuries to head H. Pope, slight injuries. A three-seater Ford car driven by Mr B. Ohristensen with whom were Messrs R. Rodgerson, It. Harrison and H. Pope, was proceeding along North Parade toward North Beach, whence the other machine, driven by J. Venerablos, appeared at the intersection, coming from Banks’s Avenue. Both cars were travelling at a smart pace. Tlio Citroen machine being ’ inclined to the centre of the road, the Ford machine swerved over to the side of the road to avoid a liead-on collision. Tho other car. however, also adopted a similar precaution, with the result that the Fold was struck side on, and sent skidding acres; the road to the footpath. Here both machines were brought lo a standstill.

The Ford was badly smashed, being reduced to . scrap-iron". The passengers and driver were huddled up in such a manner that at first their injuries seemed to be very much worse than they were, but on being extricated it was found that only Pope and Harrison had been badly hurt, the other men escaping with n few bruises and shock. Both the injured men were badly cut with flying glass.
