CANTERBURY MARKETS

LOWER WHEAT VALUES EXPECTED. Per Press Association. . / CHRISTCHURCH, 3&. ' A fair quantity of wheat is being released by farmers as they apparently realise that the drop in price of flour in Australia will probably mean lower price** being paid for the Dominiongrown stuff. A telegram received from Sydney to-day stated that flour was now worth 12s <kl per ton, having come down m about ten days .£2 7s 6d. Speaking to a reporter to-day. a miller stated ho considered there would be a steadying up of the market shortly. As far as millers Mere concerned their view was that it was of no use their buying wheat at the piesent figure owing to the possibility of a further drop in sympathy with prices ruling elsewhere. Oats are quieter after the spurt at the beginning of the week, and they have oorae back a shade again. Thd market for prompt delivery remains about the same in value. The indications are, however, that they are going up again. < Chaff is a little weaker, and £3 is the limit for good bright stuff. # I Pens are dull. Perennial ryegrass is firm at lnte rates, and cocksfoot continues dull. From 6d to 7d is the ruling price for good quality undressed seed. The outside demand for potatoes is not: very brisk, but might brighten up at any time. ' . .

The Sydney price for onions is .£ls T»er ton. and as a consequence the price has risen loenllv. Onions are being now quoted at .£6 ?0s per ton. Fanners, however are inclined to hang on to their stuff. Practically all the demand i« coming from outside scjzrcos.
