Williamson, Ltd., arrived by the Marama last evening to make the preliminary arrangements for the coming of the great Russian actor Maurice Moscovitch, in “Tho Outsider” and “The Merchant of Venice.” Mr H. J. Wynne, signals engineer, of the New Zealand Railways Department, is at present in Wanganui, and Mr G. W. Wyles, assistant signals engineer of the department, is in Christchurch, from where he is expected back on Tuesday. Mr H. M. Campbell. ex-M.P. for Hawke’s Bay, and chairman of the Hawke’s Bay County Council, accompanied by Mrs Campbell, Mr Ewen Campbell, and Miss Irene Chambers, left Auckland by the Aorangi on a visit to Canada and England. Mr Campbell will contest the Hawke's Bay seat in the Reform interest at the next elections. Mr David Goldie. who has been * 'chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board Sinking Fund Commissioners since ISO", has resigned. During his time of office Mr Goldie was absent from only three meetings. At a meeting of the Harbour Board it was decided to send a letter of appreciation to Mr Goldie for hie services. Pir James, Gunscn has been elected to the vacancy. The staff of Messrs R. and E. Tin--1 rev. Ltd., made a nresentation to Mr O. Hempleman, who bas severed liis con naction with the firm. The manager (Mr L. H. Tingev) spoke in eulogistic terms of the good feeling and pleasant relatianshio that had always existed between Mr Hempleman and the staff of the comoany, and he wished him success in his new’ position. The presentation took the form of a Rovat Boulton afternoon tea set and rose howl.
