FIRE REACHES DYNAMITE. THREE HUNDRED DEATHS.

(Received March 2, 0.45 a.m.) RIO DE JANEIRO, February 28, Thre e hundred people; are repqrted. to have-been killed and-600 injured by the, explosion of 3000 '.cases of,‘ mite during an oil fire on Caju Island,. 10 miles from the city.The victims were Brazilian -firemen and labourers who had -been 1 fighting the fire in the oil tanks of the At-lantic-Refining Company. The fire got out ot control, and' reached the dynamite. Fifty explosions followed. v The blasts ; wrecked many houses on the island, and countless windows 'in the ' city, where- the Phoenix Theatre was unroofed.
