GHASTLY TALE >F SIBERIA STARVING GOLD-DIGGERS REDUCED TO CANNIBALISM, MAN SAVED BY HIS SONS, By TflleErraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received March 1, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, February 28. Although the Soviet authorities attempted to block all the roads to Tommot, on the' Aldan river, Siberia, in order to check the suicidal rush to the goldfield opened there, the stream ofintending diggers has been maintained for over a year, the parties travelling through. pathless virgin forests infested by the Siberian tiger. The remnant of one party reached Tommot after most ghastly adventures. They got lost in the jungle, exhausted all their foot, and were forced to eat even the tops of their hoots. When the party apparently were doomed to death from famine they deliberated, and decide to consume the bodies of members dying en route. Thus they cut off, boiled, and ate the legs and arms of dead Chinese, and pushed on. Wheh all- the human flesh thus available had been consumed, it was decided to draw lots to decide who should he killed and eaten. The lot fell on a father who was accompanied by two sons. They pleaded for a day’s delay Before their father was sacrificed, and he was thus saved, as a dead horse was encountered at nightfall, and its flesh kept the party alive until tnev reached Tommot.
