“WANDERER OF THE WASTE-" ' LAND.” Such an impressive . picture is not frequently screened,, even, at the De Luxe, and,, as every picture shown there is a .'first-’clasa one, it can be easily imagined l that “Wanderer of the Wasteland” must be exceptional. It is. The cast in the picture is a good one. with such” r well-known players as Jack Holt, "Noah Beery,* ' and Billy Dove filling the leading roles. The acting is faultless, : while the production is also above par. The story tells of Adajn Larey,* a miner, in the town of ' Picacho, who is the victim. .of circumstance in; a shooting affray m which his brother is killed, and who is. forced to become a wanderer of the wastelands Without food or water he attempts to escape through the desert, and he is found in, an exhausted state by Dismukes, a desert rambler and, prospector. He ohanges his name to AVaiisfell. Four years pass and strange tales come out of the desert of the grim justice of Wa ".sfell. An Indian tells of a prospector who is being robbed of his gold mine, and Adam sets out and finds that it is Dismukes. He, resoues Dismukes, who tells him of a strange ~ couple who live , in a nearby canyon. Adam visits the cabin, recognises them , ■as, a couple he had; mat in Picacho,; with Ruth Virey, , the-girl whom he hadformerly <iloved.- The, 1 couple. iare. killed l: in a. landslide, but they tell him wherb to find Ruth, and' Adam loctttes, l facir in; San Diego teaching. She' urges I ,Him to return ahd face the authorities, and when he returns he ■ finds ■ that his brother was not killed. Adam returns to the girl who had promised to. wait for. him and they are happy. , There ,is an exceptional supporting programme, and the Orchestra De Luxe, under Mr L. D 1 Austin, plays a fine selection of music. . •
