JOTTINGS FROM ENGLAND
TOURS FOR MOTORISTS. From May Ist to October 31st. 1924, the Automobile Association Touring Department actually issued more than 170.000 itineraries, running to the colossal mileage ■of approximately 68.000.000 —or 8,000,000 in excess of the total issued tor the whole of last year. The itineraries have touched practically every motoring road in
England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, and many in Europe and beyond. A, JOURNEY TO ROME. One of the most interesting travel volumes published iu connection with motor touring is a publication entitled “To Rqme on a Sunbeam,” recently issued by the Sunbeam Miitor Car Co., Ltd-, of Wolverhampton. This volume deals with a journey across Franee and through the northern part, of Italy, and it is illustrated with reproductions of very beautiful photographs taken en route. The story of this journey is told in a very interesting style, and the volume is one which will appeal very strongly to motorists everywhere. INCREASED EXPORT TRADE. Since the introduction of their new programme and prices of September Ist, 1924, Messrs Morris Motors, Ltd., have sold 700 cars and chassis outside Europe. The most active market has proved to he Australia, and Morris Motors, Ltd;, now have the honour of having shipped the largest consignment of British cars ever sent to Australia.
This appears to he direct proof of the assumption that the British light car is rapidly winning its spurs in countries , overseas. . The natural expansion of civilisation—providing, as it does, more and '.better-niade' roads—opens the field for a larger export trade without makers necessarily departing, from their standardised productions, except for such minor modifications as are necessary for overseas conditions.
