SUICIDE OF MAN AND WOMAN. "GETHS'EMANE OF MISERY.” Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, February 26. „ Remarkable features were disclosed at the, inquest on a middle-aged couple, known as Mr and Mrs Lord, who were found dead in a flat at Streatham. It was stated in evidence that the man had been previously married and separated from hie wife. He had lived with the deceased woman for many years. The two deceased made mutual wills in. 1.919, and new wills on the eve of the tragedy. ' The question of which died first was raised. The doctors stated in evidence that undoubtedly the woman died first of an overdose of drugs. The man died from a self-inflicted wound in a severed wrist artery. Lord suffered from a malignant growth 1 The coroner pointed out that the woman, attending the man’s incurable illness for half a year, passed through a Gethsemane of misery. Like Romeo and Juliet, tlie couple were so possessed with deep affection that they decided that neither could live without the other.
A verdict of suicide by mutual agreement was returned.
