FOR AUSTRALIAN CONTEST. LEAVE FOR SYDNEY TO-DAY. Tha All Black rowing eight, which is to compete in Australia, arrived last night from Wanganui, where they have been training for the past ten days, and sail to-day by the Maheno at 11 a.m. for Sydney. The oarsmen were the guests of. Messrs John Fuller and Sons at His Majesty's Theatre last evening. Their boat has been shipped on the Maheno. Although the men have been allotted seats in the boat, these may not be permanent ns the crew for each event will D© selected prior to the race bv a committee composed of Mr G. Lauehlan (manager!, Mr H Ayres (coachi, and C. Hciuey (tho stroke of the crew). Owing to the early departure of the Maheno, no official farewell'will be given tho crew, but members of the New Zealand and Wellington Rowing Associations will be pm-cr.t on the wharf this morning, and a general invitation istextended to all interested in the crew tn assemble at the ship’:: side and accord the representatives n licnrty farewell.
