VOGELTOWM’S NEEDS
DEPUTATION TO COUNCIL. 'BUS SERVICE WANTED. Councillor A. L. Monteitb introduoed a deputation from the Mornington and Vogeltown Municipal Electors’ Association to the City Council last evening. Mi 1 F. D. O’Halloran, who headed the deputation, stated that the residents had com© to put their needs before the city’s executive. Vogeltown held) 840 people and Mornington 370 people in 1921, and there were probably 1600 people in the districts now. The districts were close to the city and were growing residential suburbs, progressive and showing extencive building programmes. Therefore', they asked for better transport, and that one of the newmotor ’buses on order should! he given a trial on service to Vogeltown and Mornington. At present the roads 'were of varying width and the 'council should see that the statutory provisions, should be complied with as to building line. Footpaths -would have to come when the district was more closely settled 1 , and now was the time to apply the statutory provisions. Also they 'wanted some! provision for the construction of reserves, for which they asked that the sum of £3OO should be restored to the estimates for thia purpose. They asked that the provisions of the Noxious. Weeds Act should be enforced against gorse, that- signposts should bo erected, and trees planted. The Mayor stated that the council was aware that the district was developing rapidly, and l that attention was being paid to Vogeltown' and Mornington in regard to a motor 'bus service.
