ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF B.M.A. MANY SUBJECTS DISCUSSED. Per Press Association. , TIMARU, February 20.The annual conference of the New Zealand Division of the British Medical Association is being held at Mount Cook Hermitage this week. Addresses on various subjects of special interest to the medical profession were given and discussed. Dr G. J. Blackmore gave an informative address on the early diagnosis of tuberculosis of the lungs, and Dr Valintine, Director-General of Health, dealt interestingly with the treatment °f tuberculosis in New Zealand, explaining what the Health Department had done, and were doing; in an endeavour to eradicate the disease. Sir H. Dr Valintine discussed with the delegates the departmental view in regard to hospital policy, and a useful discussion followed. Dr Macdonald Wilson (Wellington) and Dr Washbourne (Nelson) initiated a subject of special interest, which was discussed at some length, that of infantile paralysis. Those wlio took part in the discussion included Dr Pnrdie, chief health officer of New South Wales. The temptation to engage in excursions proved irresistible, and, favoured by fine weather, the delegates engaged in numerous short trips. The conference concludes to-night.
