SYMPTOMS OF DISEASE IT CAN BE ERADICATED, IF CAUGHT EARLY. DANGER SIGNALS FOR ALL. “Cancer is not, as supposes, a disease from which there is no escape. Cancer is a local disease in toe first instance; and it remains local, sometimes for short, and sometimes for long periods; but if then operated upon, toe disease can be completely eradicated. An early operation on any cancerous disease may confidently be expected to confer permanent immunity from its return.” i Sir Berkeley Moynihan, the most famous authority upon this dread ditease, in an interview with the London representative of “The Sun,” thus holds out a new hope for humanity. Cancer, therefore, is a disease that if diagnosed and attended to in the incipient stages, can be completely eradicated, and toe patient can confidently expect permanent immunity from its return. Cancer, however, can only he cured if toe symptoms are diagnosed in its incipient stages. Once we know the early svmptoms, we need not fear. A simple operation will eradicate the malignant growth ; that is all. N<*T ALWAYS PAINFUL... “It is the duty of the medical profession,” says this authority, “to enlighten the public regarding the early symptoms.” What, then, are toe symptoms?

. Most diseases are notified by the patient feeling a pain, which promptly sends him to a medical man for diagnosis. Cancer, however, does not always announce itself by pain in the early stages of the disease. Because the first symptoms qf.cancer may be unaccompanied by pain, or any symptom of illhealth, the patient naturally thinks that nothing serious is the matter, and thus allows the disease to-progress, perhaps to a stage when cure is impossible. There is only qne cure for cancer. That is the early and complete removal of the cancerous growth, however apparently trivial. If the first symptoms are neglected, and toe cause not iimmediatoly removed, cancer is fatal in almost every instance. These are the definite signs of cancer? Have you got any of them? SIGNS OF CANCER. : If you are a woman over 30 years -of age, .and find any swelling in your 1 breast. A large proportion of such swellings are cancerous, but can be cured By removal. If you experience . any excessive or irregular bleeding occurring at the change of - life, especially. if accompanied by an offensive discharge. That, may mean commencing cancer. If you have any bleeding or offensive discharge, however trivial, occurring after the change of life. That frequently means curable cancer. If you neglect : those symptoms till pain occurs, .it means cancer which is almost always incurable.

If you have any wart or persistent sore occurring' spontaneously ‘ on vonr lower lip, after being, over 40. That is almost certainly cancerous. Get it removed at once.. , If. after 40 years of age, you have any sore or swelling on the tongue hr inside your mouth. If, you neglect that for only a few weeks, the result will be almost inevitably fatal. An immediate operation offers you the prospect of a good cure. . If. after 40 years of age, you find Weeding from the bowel, which perhaps you regard as “piles.” A proportion of. such cases is cancerous, but, at this stage, perfectly curable. If you are an elderly persons, and have any warts, moles, or other growths on the skin which are exposed to irritation. Don’t neglect them, or thev may terminate in. cancer. y If you set up irritation of the tongue and cheeks bv broken, jagged teeth or toe lower lip by clay_ pipes, these irritations may terminate in cancer. . v (These are the “danger” signals that every individual can resognise at once. FEAR OF OPERATIONS. The first'step is to consult. a medical man—not a quack—or visit a hospital. And he quick about it. Cancer is a disease in a hurry. Perhaps you suffer from a slight, non-painful swelling, or any of the other symptoms mentioned. It doesn’t really worry yon; but there is a dreadful thought in your mind. Mightn’t it he cancer ? You. know, of ought to know, that the proper thing is immediately to go to toe hospital or see toe doctor.
