AFTER THE CONFERENCE
NURSERYMEN PICNIC. , TRIP ROUND THE. BAYS. After the work of , the conference was over the visiting nurserymen and their ladies ' and friends were the. guests of the Wellington Nurserymen’s Council at a motor and harbour excursion to Day’s Bay! and hack to Wellington. En route stops were made at the Gear Company’s and at Lever’s woyks, an hour' or intensely interesting inspor-- - tion being spent; at eachtplace, the party being divided and conveyed over , the’ whole of .the works by members . of the management. , : The, guests arrived at Day’s Bay at I | p.m., where lunch was waiting for the party, which Was now augmented by some members who had come by boat. , After lunch an extensive toast list was honoured, including the “New Zea- . land Association of Nurserymen,” “The Division of Horticulture,” “The Fruit-- . growers. Federation.” Other toasts were;; “The Wellington District Coun cdl,” “Tho Ladies,” and our “Visitors,” responded to by’’ Messrs W. Wickens, (Christchurch) and D. . McLaren, president of; the Wellington Civio League. • The party reached Wellington again : by steamer at about 6 p.m. |
