After an aeroplane flight, Gwendolyn Caswell (S3),’ who had been deaf atnl dumlb since three, years oi age, Was able to speak and hear. ' ■ An army pilot took Miss Cjswel] up i t> a height ot l 5000 ft by slpw degrees. Then he suddenly went into a side-slip. His psßsenger made no sign. Again he went to 5000 ft and made a nose dive'of 1000 ft. The aviator saw the girl clap her hands to her ears and her lips move. , He-repeated the dives, several times fiom altitudes where the, air was thin to a heavier pressure. When they landed MiSs Caswell pronounced her first sentence for 19 years.
