A TIMELY ARRIVAL
- JANIE SHDDON TO RESCUE. GOVERNOR-GENERAL ON BOARD STEAMER. When the Government. steamer Janie Seddon, with His Excellency. General Sir Charles Fergusson on board, was leaving Somes Island on Saturday afternoon, it was noticed that a launch containing a man, woman, and two children was fast on a pinnacle rock on the east side of the island. His Excellency immediately asked the captain of the Janie Seddon to go to the assistance of the launch, and, after some backing and filling, a tow-line was. passed aboard the launch, and which soon successfully floated again. As the launch was out of Bight of the wharves or any vessel going or coming In, it was indeed fortunate that a visit was being paid to Somes Island bv His Excellency, as at the time of the occurrence it was high water, and there was the danger that as the tide went out the launch would have turned turtle and the occupants Been precipitated into the harbour. „
