MOTOR AND YAN COLLIDE TRAMOARi AND MOTOR SMASH IN CITY. NIBED FOCR ANOTHER AMBULANCE. Three motor collisions marred the holiday time in the Hutt Valley, although it is hoped that none of the consequences are serious,. hut two injured people were removed to Wellington Hospital for attention owing to bad outs and bruises. TRAMCAR v. MOTOR-CAR. A motor-car and a tramcar collided at the corner of "Wakefield street and Lower Cuba street about a quarter to two yesterday afternoon, and rather severe injuries were sustained hy a man named) Gilbert Ijandymore, a passenger, and serious injuries were also sustained by two other occupants, Mr and Mrs Herbert Ellis, and a small child. The car was proceeding along Wakefield street, and l apparently the driver failed to notice the approach of a down tramcar, which smashed right into the motor-car, which had the worst of the collision. The child was thrown clean on to the road, but luckily escaped; without injury. injured persons were at once taken into the custodian’s office at the Town, Hall and were attended by Dr T. F.. Corkill, who arrived on the scene within a few minutes. Landymore, who is 56 years old! and resides at 28, Lome street, had sustained a broken kneecap, in addition to cuts about the face and hands. It was then decided! to send the patients to the hospital, hut, owing to considerable difficulty in securing the services of ambulance, the injured persons could not be admitted to the institution until nearly an hour after the mishap. Mr and Mrs Ellis received cuts about the head. AMBULANCE DELAYS PUBLIC OPINION. The main hospital ambulance, which had been on an outer oall, aiTiveia! at the Town Hall about half an hour after the accident, the ambulance on the waterfront not being available as no driver was at hand!. Several helpers and passers-by expresses fairly strong opinions about a city liko "Wellington being so poorly equipped "with motor ambulances, and reference was made to the Dixon street tragedy. ... “The City Council has been criticised in the matter,” said one, “and l it has also been discussed ait the Hospital Board, at "which reference was mad© to f*i e subject at the last meeting. Is it to be a case where everybody’s business is nobody’s business?”

AT THE HUTT. The first accident at the Hutt occurred about 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, when Mr A. R. Oldham, who resides in Vivian street, city, was returning from Heretaumga with six passengers in his oar. When about five chains north of the V.1.C., on the Main road, Lower Hutt, he caught up to a four-wheeled horse express, owned and driven by Mr Antonio Mazzola, a market gardener, of Lower Hutt, who was accompanied by hiß infant eon. In endeavouring to pass a stationary oar, and also one going north, Mr Oldham’e car struck the rear of the express, which was badly smashed. The horse bolted with the wreck, and Mr Mazzola and his son were thrown on to the road opposite the VJ.C., both being badly cut about and bruised. After receiving attention from Dr Dudley, they were removed to the Wellington Hospital. A SECOND BANG. At 6.15 on. Christmas Eve motor vehicles driven by Mr E. Biggs, Nainai, and Mr B. Mason, also of Nainai, collided at the west end of the main Hutt bridge. Biggs was in his motor-lorry with a number of companions travelling south," and had got over the bridge, and was proceeding over the road to turn down Bridge street. Mason was coming north along. Riverbank street, and was approaching tho bridge when his car was struck on the side by the lorry. Tho rear part of the car was badly damaged, and the radiator and front of the lorry was also put out of action. On© man, a passenger, in the lorry, was slightly injured, hut was able to proceed to his home. COLLIDED WITH POST. A car proceeding south on the afternoon of Christmas Eve oollided with a telegraph post on the Main road. Lower Hutt, south of Park avenue, and was badly damaged. It is said that the driver of the oar. whose name was not ascertained, was dazzled by the bright lights of an approaching car. No one was reported hurt. ACCIDENT AT BROOKLYN MOTOR-CAR COLLIDES WITH MOTOR-CYCLE. A collision between a motor-car and a motor-cycle took place shortly before 6 o’clock last evening at the corner of Cleveland street and Happy Valley road. It appears that a young man named Dark was proceeding from Cleveland street into Kappy Valley road, when a motor-oar, No. ACO 223, struck the front wheel of the cycle, causing Dark to fall heavily. 'The young man, however, was able to pick himself and proceed to his home, a short distance away, with no more injuries than a cut hand and a. scratched face. The cycle Was severely damaged, hut the motorcar did not stop, so apparently it was not damaged.
