The Royal Commission which reported on its investigation of the charges of gjaft in the City Council stated definitely that Alderman Walker was paid £25 as a bribe, in connection with the erection of . a petrol-pump, and also that Walker made a. proposal corruptly to obtain money froni Cropley. (the ac» cuser), hut there was no_ evidence that any other alderman or persons were implicated.. ■ . ■ ' Cabinet decided on, a. further extension of the Royal Commission’s powers to inquire into certain City Council contracts. '
