MATCH AT CHRISTCHURCH. EEATHCOTE WILLIAMS SHIELD. Per Piw Association. CHRISTCHURCH, December 17. The first HeaS hcote Williams Shield match of the season was commenced at Hasley Park between first elevens representing the Auckland Grammar School and the Christchurch Boys’, High School, Christchurch. Tbe school which had held the shield for the pest three seasons was seriously threatened in their hold upon the result of' the play. Auckland won the toss, .and wisely chose to bat on a good wicket. At no time during the innings did-the batsmen show any want of confidence, and at .the end of the day had scored the big total of 462 for nine wickets. The scores are: AUCKLAND.—First Inninga. Vacancies in the senior B team have been filled bv Lusk. Ronaldson. and White (Y.M.C.A.L The Petone player in this team is W. Hamilton, not A. Hamilton.
