The first HeaS hcote Williams Shield match of the season was commenced at Hasley Park between first elevens representing the Auckland Grammar School and the Christchurch Boys’, High School, Christchurch. Tbe school which had held the shield for the pest three seasons was seriously threatened in their hold upon the result of' the play. Auckland won the toss, .and wisely chose to bat on a good wicket.
