'VJSLLLNGTON STOCK EXCHANGEYESTERDAY'S QUOTATIONS. (3.15 p.m. Call.) The tone of the Wellington Stock Exchange was firm yesterday and a Good list of quotations made an appearance. Although only one sale was transacted, the buyers appeared in greater numbers than they havo done for some days, and with sellers asking good all round price** the tenor of the market was bright. Again gilt-edged securities were sought after at (food prices, but Inscribed Stocks <1933} were offering at a reduction of 2s 6d after a lack of response by buyers all the week to a demand of £lOl 7s 6d. Banks v.ere quiet with New Zealands reappearing at £3 in the buvers, although no price was quoted by sellers. A good array of financial lots appeared, hut business was quiet in this direction. Abrahams ami Williams (ord.) shares were ©ought at £3 18s, which was Is below what buyers offered a few days ago. Dalgety and Company’s drew an offer of £l4 from willing buyers, but no response was made on ■'Change. Other lots ehowiM no alteration. National Insurances advanced 3d recently in buyers quotes and again increased their offers yesterday to £3 10s 9d and South British Insurance buyers were quoting at jB2 3s 6d. Transport shares did not draw many offerings, nor did woollens, Wellington (pref.; buyers being prepared to give but £6 12s against sellers demands of .£6 16s on Tuesday. Only two coal quotations were made and these showed no change on previous prices. Leyland O’Brien's were down by 6d in the buyers price, and although sellers asked as much as JE3 11s fid at Monday’s call they were only sought at .£2 8s fid yesterday. Miscellaneous shares were quiet, with little or no fluctuation, although one or two lots made reappearances. Closing quotations yesterday were as follow:
