COUNCIL MEETING IN ROME. MR CHAMBERLAIN PRESENT. Renter’s Telegram. (Received December 9, 8.45 p.m.) ROME, December 8. The public meeting of the Council of the League of Nations opened this afternoon in the presence of all members. , Mr Austen CSmmfcerlain (Britain), replying to the welcome extended by the president of the council, emphasised the British Empire’s respect for the League, sod appreciation of its work. M. Briaad (France), interviewed earlier, expressed the opinion that Britain’s desire to postpone diaensraom on the Disarmament Protocol was natural, because it was necessary to con-, suit her dominions.
