A young man, 19 years of age, whose name was suppressed, pleaded guilty a< the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to th» theft of four dozen pairs of silk stockings. valued at £42. from George Bond and Co., Lid. Evidence of accused’s previous good character was given by his employer, who expressed his willingness to takf the youth back into his employ. His Worship said that lie though! it was a case where the young mac might be admitted to probation. Hi' employer spoke well of him, and there was no doubt that he had been persuaded to commit a criminal act by Boyd, an older man, who was responsible. He admitted accused to probation for 12 months.
