Kolburn. at Seatoun. . Karori v. NOKt®"’ ll , at KaroriLyall Bay, a bye . .. These will be the last rounds for the Pennants before -tho holidays.. But, if it U necessary to postpone the games on account ,of bad leather, on effort will be' mfide to set them' off next Saturday, December 20th. DISAPPOINTING WEATHERThe weather conditions, at flie,’last Wook-ond were a great disappointment 10 all keen bowlers; but were of'great'benefit to the greens, the warm rain proving most refreshing to them.. There were noCentre fixtures tor- last Seturday, tut most of the" clubs had intended -to use the/daw : fdc-playing off their owh olufi games.

CENTRE TOURNAMENT

MOST SATISFACTORY ENTRIES. The entries for the Centre toiMnapient have been most satisfactory. -It was hardly expected that there would he en increase in the. entries,..on account of the near approach - of the , Dominion tournament, which is td be held in- Wellington this, year;-but the number of outriOa is 60, four more teams having, entered than took -part in the tournament last year.,-. It, is interesting to note the dubs.' ftom which ,tbe. entries were received. This indicates the character ,otthe clubs, and their disposition towards tournament play. The Wellington Club has more than twice as many members os any other club within the Cehtre. but Has only entered - eight, nhks as against Hgtaitai’s entry, of nine.., .Newtown Club, which, fias always -been composed of keen players, has an entry equal to that of the Wellington Club. KClburn, A ictoria, and Thqrndon dubs ihava about an-equal membership; but Kelburn anO Victoria have out fn Seven rinks oach, while Thorndon jg represented_by-enly three. The small entry from Thorndon is characteristic of the club, which . has never been noted as one which produced keen bOwloVs. The Central Club; Petjme, £€>£>'& yowl® club, has a. very creaivSHio entry of four rinks.. .The other two. clubs in the Hutt Valley—Petone and the Hutt —aro represented by two ritiks each j £incl the smaUer olitos within the Centre-have put in from one to tWo-rinka e^on.

An invitation' was reaeived from the Marlborough Centre -for a- Wellington team to visit that district. { ■ Mr Shallcrass said that this , the second year that such an .invitation hail been reoeived. ' They had hot been v able to arrange a' trip last • year, but 1 be thought it should be taken-up this season. - He would be very glad! to oteanise visiting teams, if-the centre decided to accept the invitation; The president supported the suggestion. . The-invitation- waa.'accepted, and Mf Shallcrass was empowered to arrange tor rinks-to visit Marlborough early in the coining year. CANADA, AUSTRALIA' AND SOUTH AFRICA. Mr James Muir moved a notice of motion standing in hiS name,. "That this centre recommend the Dominion Bowling Council to invite a rink or .rinks from the. following, countries—Canada, . Australia and).Strath 1 Africa—tq:.visit.New Zealand in .1925.” Ho thought, he said, that it was very opportune to issue such invitations in view of the visit of .the English, howling team.nsxt year. A New South Wales bowler had. presented a cup worth £SOO to .be competed, for , annually by bowlers eh similar lines, tc> the eonteats tor the Davis Tennis Cup; and he urged that Nfew Zealand also should do

what it could to encourage inter-Empire bowling- tournaments?- - - Mr i’\ Meadowcroft seconds, Mr 8., Potter supported; and tho resolution was Carried unanimously. 9

CENTRE TOURNAMENT

TWELVE SECTIONS TO BE PLAYED. Mr Shallcrass suggested that in view of there being .CQ entries for the centre tournament and most of the clubs having entered several rinks apiece, the be playedfin twelve * sections* l*hls would-mean tijat-/they would be able to make thf% draw in such a manner that no one club team would meet another team from the same club Thore would also be the advantage of a saving in greens; and, all the sections being of the same strength, the care.takers would get the- -same* number of shilling® iii. baoh case.
