AMATEUR ATHLETICS
DEWAR SHIELD MEETING. The second Dewar shield, competition of the season will be held at Athletic Park next Saturday afternoon. With only a fow points separating tho leaeintf teams* competition should be very keen. In the* three mile event it is probable that R. A. Rose (Australasian champion) and Dufrcsnc (New Zealand champion) ■will be starting along with other wellknown distance runners. A number of cycling events are again on the programme, and the starters will include C. Flott and' S. Harrison, who .second and third fastest times io« speefcively in the Ashburton-Christchurcli road race a few weeks ago. A novelty event (in the form of a raco with motor-tyres for boys), has been included in the programme.
EVENING MEETING
A successful evening meeting was held at Athletic Park yesterday by the 'Wellington Amateur Athletic Club, when a programme, comprising eight events, was got off.
