STUDENTS’ WELCOME
Signor Cesaroni and his students gave a “welcome party” in his studios last night to Signor Nino Piccaluga, Signora Augusta Coucato, and Miss Phyllis Archibald, ' of the Grand Opera Concert Company. The studio was decorated with pink ribbon streamers for the occasion, and the students, who occupied two rows of seats, gave the visitors a hearty welcome as they arrived, the ladies being each presented with a poey of flowers. The students sang a ohorus and the following gave solos: Mrs Brown, Mrs Maplesden, Miss E. Higgins, Miss Monaghan, and Mr Madigao. Signor Cesarino himself sang several times, and persuaded Signora Concato to . sing a charming duet' with him, while Miss Archibald delighted everyone by also singing- At the conclusion the Signor said a few words of weloome to the guests of honour, saying what a very great treat it was to have such .artists with us. He had not heard! such, a fine quartette since leaving hie own country. Signor Piccaluga replied in Italian, which Miss Archibald translated, thanking everyone for their hind'weloome and praising the singers, who he was sure would do well if they worked hard, for they had a very fine master in Signor Cesareni, whom they had l been delighted to hear also. On behalf of the students Miss Frame, • Miss Ferris and Mrs Kelly presented the three guests with a little memento of the occasion, and the evening finished with the singing of the National Anthem. Sigpora Concato was wearing a gown of pink georgette beaded in dull orystal and Miss Archibald powder blue georgette brocaded in velvet.
