The death occurred, at his residence, Talavera terrace, of Mr J. D. Ander-. son, aged 76. The late Mr Anderson, who has been in indifferent health for some time past, was formerly well known >n commercial circles in Wellington. He was a son of the late Captain Hosea Anderson, and was born at Leewick, Shetland Islands; and was a brother of the late Mr Gilbert Anderson, of Gilbert Anderson and 00., London. The late Mr J. D. Anderson was formerly a member of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, and of the Wellington Industrial Association. He leaves two sons and two daughters —Mr J. D. Anderson, manager of the Loan and Mercantile Agency’s branch office, Wanganui; Mr S. J. Anderson, of Wellington Mrs Johnson, Whakatane; and Miss Lauiie Anderson, of Wellington. Mr H. Buckleton. general manager >f the Bank of New Zealand, is visiting Auckland. Ho is accompanied by Mrs Buckleton. ' . f Captain Gipsy Smith has arrived in Edinburgh. Though somewhat tired after the long voyage from New Zealand. he is steadily improving in health! The doctors agree that complete rest for a time is necessary, after which Captain Smith hopes to continue his mission work.
