“HAPPY INSPIRATION

SPECIAL SERVICE SQUADRON. HOME WATERS AGAIN. : LONDON, September 28. Reviewing the world cruise of - the Special Service Squadron of the Royal Navy, “The Times” naval correspondent says:— i “The voyage has been in every way a' magnificent success, and Admirals Sir' Frederick Field and Sir Hubert Brand and their officers and men must be congratulated on the accomplishment of such an undertaking without delay: or mishap. “From whatever standpoint it is regarded, the voyage was a happy inspiration. The remarkable thing is that it was not undertaken before. When other sea Powers, like France, Italy, and especially the United Stages, find it advantageous to send naval squadrons to foreign countries, it must obviously be a good thing for Britain, who, more than any of the other nations, is dependent on the maintenance of sea communications.” This fact has been the predominant note in the many speeches Sir Frederick Field and his principal officers have been called on to make during the tour. They had sought to direct the attention of the British people overseas to the full results of such missionary work, which cannot he apparent immediately, though there can be no doubt of its value.
