WANGANUI MEETING CONCLUDES GLOAMING BEATEN IN SYDNEY The Wanganui races were concluded on Saturday, iri fine weather. The Eclipse Stakes was annexed by Royal Divorce, and Musketoon won well in the Higgie Handicap. The big sprint saw Soliform lead the field home, and in the Debutante Stakes the winner was revealed in a promising colt called Arpent. Other horses successful were Miss Micky, who won the Hack jtlurdles, Siaosi, who was first in the Spring Hack Handicap, Bonhomme, who showed the way in the Railway, and Sunshot, who won well in the Moutoa Hack Handicap. In Sydney, Heroic beat Gloaming in the Chelmsford Stakes. Ballymena was fourth. The time, imin 50J sec, is an Australasian record for nine furlongs.

WANGANUI RACES CONCLUDING DAY GOOD PARADE OF TWO-YEAR-OLDS. (By Telegraph.—Special to “Times.”) WANGANUI, September 13. The Wanganui Jockey Club’s spring meeting was brought to a close to-day in dull but fine weather. The Vice-Regal party was present, and the attendance was larger than on Thursday and the speculation much brisker. The racing was of a high class, the fields "being large and most of the finishes very close. Great interest was taken in the Debutante Stakes for which eighteen youngsters started, and they were a good lot. The winner Arpent is a well-grown colt by A ere, and promises bo be as speedy as his sire. The imported horse Royal Divorce scored a comfortable win in the Eclipse Stakes, and the eon of King Proctor i will be heard of again soon. Siaosi, a full brother to Civility, won the Spring Hack like a racehorse and be looks good enough for anything. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Sir George Clifford’s mare Barn Owl was the favourite for the Railway Hack Handicap- and she was weil placed all through and had every chance, but was not good enough. Bon Homme, a half-brother to Client, won handsomely after having a _ bad passage and should not be long in winning other races for Mr T. H. Duncan. A COMFORTABLE WIN. Musketoon has been regarded as a likely winner for some time post and he came to light in the Higgic Handicap, scoring comfortably. Thus his owner, Mr J. Donald, secured the silver cup valued at £IOO, presented by Mrs W. Killiok, the eldest daughter of the late Mr A. Higgie, after whom the race was .named. There was a great finish for second placo. MOTLEY BEATEN. Motley looked all the better for her race in the Guineas, and was made a favourite for the Owen Handioop, but she did not show the brilliancy or last season though she led part of the distance and was in a good position at the bottom of the straight where she was beaten.' Soliform won nicely from Fool’s Paradise, which ran a good *aoe. Though well backed, Rational was never prominent. THE TWO-YEAR-OLDS. The only scratching in the Debutante Stakes was Poppy Day, leaving eighteen to go to' the post. Arpent was sorted out as the most likely winner. He was ridden by H. Gray ana jumped to the front at the start, followed by Black Cat, Gold Plaid, and Lady tiavendisb.. Galloping in fine style, Arpent kept in front all "the way to win by two lengths from Lady Cavendish, who beat Bank Draft by » length. Black Cat was close up fourth, then came Gold Plaid, Adavale, and Vaudeville. The winner ia a fine stamp of a colt by Acre out of Rene, and is evidently a good one. } MISS MICKEY’S GOOD WIN. The’ twelve acceptors all went to the post for the Gonville Hurdles, Crown Coin carrying about £llO more money than Brigadier Bill. Hyrax was also in demand and Miss Micky was evenly backed. The first to show out was To Tahi and then followed Sansalino, Miss Micky, Brigadier Bill, and Demand, this being the order of the leaders over the first obstacle with Hyraa last. After going half a mile Empyrean was in front from Sansalino, Miss Micky, Brigadier Bill, Crown Coin, Te Tahi, Explorer bringing up the rear. Going down the back Miss Mickey fan into the lead from' Empyrean, Brigadier Bill, Crown Coin,, and Demand. Crossing the top Miss Micky was closely followed.by - Brigadier Bill, the pair being well out in front of Crown Coin and Empyrean. As they turned for home Velociform ran up into fourth position, with Miss Miolcy still showing the way to Brigadier Bill, with Crown Coin next. In the run home Miss Micky held her own comfortably and won by a length and a-half from Velooifonc, which finished fast, with Brigadier Bill two lengths away third. Then came Crown Coin, Te Tahi and Empyrean. Explorer was last. A BIG DIVIDEND. Fourteen paraded for the Spring Hack Handicap, Solforango being withdrawn. Lucrative was the favourite, Dangle and Ruby Ring being also well backed. Lady Hamua, on the rails, began well and was soon well clear of Lucrative and Siaosi. Some crowding took place which causod Ruby Ring, Lucrative, and Dangle to drop back and Lady Hamua led round the bend from Bonideer and Siaosi with Lucrative closing up again. The latter was the first into the straight from Lady Hamua, Bonideer, and Dangle. In the run to the post Siaosi proved too good, drawing away to win by a length from Dangle, with Lucrative a neck away third. Then came Rv.by Ring, Azoota, and Bonideer. Lady Mernwee fell, and interfered with Papaponga-, the latter’s rider coming oft The winner paid a big price. Ruby Ring would have been close up to the winner with any luck in the early stages. An inquiry held to investigate the cause of the accident decidea that no blame was attachable to anyone. FAVOURITE ROMPS HOME. Royal Divorce was always favourite for the New Zealand Eclipse Stakes, and was backed down to a short price in a field of five, Winning Hit being next in demand. Subjection was the early pacemaker, leading for six furlongs from Winning Hit, Royal Divorce and Avola. As they turned into the straight Subjection and Winning

Hdt were still in front of Royal Divorce, but they let the latter through on the rails, and he tooik the lead to go on to wm easily by three lengths From Enthusiasm. The latter finished very fast, and beat Winning Hit out of second money by a neck. Avola was a neck away fourth, and Subjection again failed over the last bit. Enthusiasm improved greatly as a result of Thursday’s racing. BONHOMME FINISHES WELD. The thirteen acceptors confirmed their engagements in the Railway Ha-ok Handiicap. Barn Owl was more favoured than Solferange, while Kuhio and Rehutai found solid support. La Reve played up at the start, and the field was sent away without her., First to move was Rehutai followed by Kuhio, Kilia, Te Kawa, Barn Owl, and Chairman. Going down the back Barn Owl ran up to second place to Rehutai. As they turned the bend the order was Rehutai, Kuhio, Chairman, Te Kaiwa and Bonhomme. At the bottom of the straight Kuhio and Barn Owl were together in front of Solferange and Rehutai, with Bonhomme next. The last-named put In a fine run in the straight, but was blocked at the distance. She came again, and got the verdict from Kuhio by half a length. Barn Owl was a head away third, and Rehutai close up fourth. Then came Te Kawa, and The Lamb. The latter put in a fine effort after getting away badly. The winner was also alow to begin, so that her performance was a good one., MUSKETOON WINS WELL. Aroh Salute was the only defection from the Higgie Handicap, for which the Campbell bracket, Diamond Ring and Comical, were backed down -to a very short price, carrying nearly £IOOO more than the second choice, Bumptious. Of the others Musketoon and Yoma were the most fancied. The start was good except that Stark was slow to begin. Musketoon begad well, with L’Amour and Diamond Ring next. As they raced past the stands Diamond Ring was in front of Black Cruiser, Snatcher, Yoma, L’Amour, Bumptious and Musketoon. At the six furlongs Snatcher took charge with Black Cruiser, Diamond Ring, L’Amour as the nearest attendants. down the back Musketoon closed up u:. Black Cruiser, and they crossed the top together followed by Bumptious, Yoma, Diamond Ring, and Equitable. The first to turn tar home was Musketoon just ahead of Diamond Ring, Bumptious and Askari. Musketoon held his own in the run to the judge, and l won by a length from- Bumptious. Diamond Ring was a head away third, and then came Yoma, Comical, Askari, and Black Cruiser. SUNSBOT FINISHES WELL. They all paraded for the Ifoutoa Hack Handicap, The Banker being made a strong favourite. Knighthood and l Mountain Signal also were well backed, andl of the others Shining Armour was the most fancied. Interest made the early , running from The Banker, HaJigan, and Slump. Going down the baok Peutetre took charge from Haligan, The Banker and! Slump. The Banker, Peutetre, Master Black, and Kilceit were all together running into the straight with Sunshot on the outer. The last-named finished well, and won by a length and a half from Waetea which came very fast over the last furlong, and beat Master Black by half a length. Knighthood, Kilceit, Mountain Signal, and Peutetre werethe next in order. SOLIFORM SCORES IN SPRINT. Motley was made a better favourite by £334 than Rational for the concluding event for which there were na withdrawals. Fool’s Paradise, Irapnka, and Civility were also solidly supported, and the others all were well backed. Soliform was the first to move, but Civility soon took charge, only to be displaced by Motley, who led at the half mile from Fool’s Paradise and Soliform. Crossing the top Fool’s Paradise took charge, and led Motley round into the straight with Civility and Soliform handy. At the distance Fool’s Paradise looked all over a winner, but Soliform challenged and gradually drew level, finally winning by a length from Fool’s Paradise. Civility was half a length away third, and Motley fourth. THE DETAILS PLACINGS ON MACHINE. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, September 12.
