SMOKE CONCERT

BERHAMPORE FOOTBALL CLUB. The annual smoke concert _ of the club was held on Saturday night, Mr ,T. Moffitt presiding oyer a gathering of 140 members and friends. In proposing the toast of the club, the chairman congratulated members on the very successful season and the fine performance of the senior team in being runners-up in the senior championship and winning the National Mutual Cup. In presenting the National Mutual Cup to the seniors, and the Junior Championship Cup to tho juniors, Mr W. Hardliam (Wellington Rugby Union) spoke in eulogistic terms of the young club’s success and their rapid advance in. Rugby football. Presentations were made to the following:—T. Taylor (most improved player, senior team), A. Gray best back, junior team), L. Allen (beet forward, junior team), C. Glennie (most serviceable player, junior team), E. Mason (best tackier, junior team), W. Harris (most serviceable player, intermediate team), E. Perry (framed photo of senior team) (coach). F. Russell (coach, third class team). W. Murray (coach, intermediate team). The following toasts were honoured: —“Berhampore Football Club” (Mr J. Moffitt), responded to by Mr C. Russell; “■Wellington Rugby Union” (Mr J. Duncan), responded to by Mr W. Hardham; “New Zealand Rugby Union” (Mr J. Moffitt). responded to _bv Mr T. Fletcher; “Referees’ Association” (Mr B. Hundleby), responded to bv Mr Mullaney: “Marlborough Rugby Touring Team” (Mr J. Mdffitt), responded to by Mr Tunnidiffe (manager). Musical items were contributed by Messrs B. Duncan, D. Beck. G. Tynan, A. Moore, R. Roberts, E. Edwards, IV Rautu, Culverwell, and Deans.
