AFRICANS’ LAST MATCH. HOLMES SCORES 202. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, September Jl. The South Africans’ final match in England agaisnt C. I. Thornton’s Eleven, played at Scarborough, was continued to-day. Thornton declared the first innings when six wickets bad fallen lor 461 (P. Holmes, not out, 202, E. Hendren 101. W. Rhodes 56). The visitors in the first innings scored 143, and in the second have lort no wicket for 45 runs. Holmes hatted for over five hour*, and when the score stood at 20 for four wickets gave two chances. With Hendren he added 170 in a monotonous manlier against tired bowling. Hendren gave two chances. W. Rhodes and Holmes added 122 for the fifth wicket. Eight bowlers were tried in an hour and a quarter. A. D. Ncurse captured two wicketo for 51 runs. Hendren has now completed ?!0Q runs for the present season.
