SCHOOLMASTER'S DEATH

Per Press Association. , LEVIN, September 12, At the inquest into the death of William A r oysey, headmaster of Shannon State School, it was disclosed that the deceased died of a gunshot wound, inflicted by himself. He was found dead in the kitchen of thje school residence, with a gun alongside him, and a wound over the heart. He left a note indicating his intention of taking his life on account of his ill-health, and also left directions for the disposal of his affairs. Ho had been headmaster at Shannon for 35 years, and previously was. a teacher in Westland. He was a single man, and was due to retire at the end of the year.
