Both these teams have been anxiously awaiting this match, as the competition’s final will rest on to-day’s result. Smoko concerts, as well as motor drives, were provided for their amusement while they were there. The play was good on the whole, says Mr Martin, and he -declares that had Wellington but met Canterbury in the second or third match instead of the first they' would have beaten the southerners. Alto, gethor the week was one of pleasure, and the arrangements were excellently carried out. There are rumours that the next tournament will be held in Wellington. If this ho true the announcement will be welcomed here, as tho contests will assuredly give the game a helping hand. During tournament week in Christchurch several useful meetings took place. One was a conference between managers and ref trices, at which a Variety of subject® was ‘discussed, all turning on, the question, of the advancement and encouragement of the stick game. The N.Z.H.A. entertained team managers at a dinner, and here again useful discussion took place. A letter has been received by tho Wellington Hockey Association from the Canterbury association asking whether it, is practicable to arrange to send a representative schoolboys’ team from Christchurch to play a teaih of Wellington youngsters. This match is desired by the Wellington school man agement., and the proposal is being considered. It is honed the southern
