SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP

HANNAN TO ROW AHNST. Ter Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 27. Arrangements are praotically completed for Hannan and Arnst to row for- the Australasian sculling championship on the Waikato river on October 25th.

.The breaking-wp for the second term, of St. Mark's Ohurdv School was celebrated by an entertainment arranged entirely Iby the pupate themselves. With the exception or a clever 'sketch given by Messrs Ball and Saunderson all the items were contributed by the children, and consisted of songs recitations andl dianoes. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent on Saturday at the Tea Kiosk when Mrs Pycroft, assisted by other ladies of th© district, organised an afternoon with tile object of forming a sub-branch of the Women’s National Reserve. Miramar has always had representation on the Seatoua branch but they felt anxious to do more in making the work known. Miss Freeman presided, andl it was decoded to form a sub-branch, and that in future the joint branch would be known as the >Se ato u n-Mi r.nmar branch. Mrs Pycroft was elected’ vice-presidtot Mrs Gerrie secretary, and the following committee: —Mesdames Oullen. Kent Hudson, Blanco, Ellesni and' Telford! Musical items’ by Mrs Pycroft (junior), and recitations by Mrs Gerrie were greatly appreciated. Afternoon tea, served by the committee brought a pleasant and enjoyable afternoon to a close.
