MAN LIKELY TO RECOVER.

A man named Denis Lynch, believed to be a stranger to Wellington, was found in Mercer street early last evening covered in hlocd and suffering from what appeared to be a self-in-flicted wound to his throat. The Taranaki street police were notified and the man was conveyed to the hospital in the ambulance, being admittedto the institution at 7.20 p.m. Tho man was unable to give a dear account of himself, but tho police learned that ho had stayed at a city hotel on Monday night, and returned to the hotel yesterday to secure the room again, but was informed that it, had been taken in the interval. . He then left the hotel, and nothing is known of his movements until discovered in Meroer street.

The hospital authorities reported late last night that Lynch’s condition was then not of a serious nature, and that he is likely to recover.
